Mental Capacity Act
I have a particular interest in promoting the voice of older people who live in care homes in terms of their care and treatment. The enactment of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 has further emphasized the appropriateness of this approach. The use of Advance Care Plans in care homes is one way in which this can be achieved. My work at present is focused on the promotion of advance care planning and person-centred care, and both of these concepts fit appropriately within the framework of the Mental Capacity Act.
